This is not a recruiting/signup thread. Right now, I am just going to be pitching an idea and see if there is enough interest in it for me to carry onwards with planning it.
Game system:
A modified version of either Pathfinder, or the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Open Game License rules. I plan on modifying the rules slightly by making custom races for pony characters. The races I am planning on making so far include Earth Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns (of course), as well as Zebras, Griffons, Dragons, and Crystal Ponies (Changelings are a possibility). I'll also have to modify the class system slightly, given the technicality that only Unicorns can use magic in the show. This won't be done on any kind of grandiose level, mind you. I'll likely just post the custom rules on the forum; I'm not going to be making a "Ponyfinder Core Rulebook" or anything.
Game setting:
The game will take place N millennia after the show. The Mane 6, Spike, Celestia, Luna, Cadance, and Discord (others possible) have all ascended to godhood and watch over Equestria from a higher plane. Others such as Chrysalis, Sombra, and Larry/Shadowfright (read the comics) have become evil gods (other evil gods might include Tirek and the Smooze).
I will put together a setting which utilizes all confirmed countries from the show (Equestria, Crystal Empire, Griffon Kingdoms [alluded to on canon map], Tartarus, and Saddle Arabia, plus the Sea Kingdom or whatever if I pick up that book) plus one or two others made specifically for the game (Zebra and Changeling homelands, most likely). The technology level will remain about the same as the show, for simplicity's sake.
Campaign:
The story of any potential campaign is something that is yet to be imagined. It would most likely just be a couple of one-shot adventures to start, to test out the system, and then we could take it into a bigger campaign. The campaign/adventures would be heavily influenced by the fantasy adventure genre.
Also, though I am open to other gaming methods, it would more than likely be play-by-post on a forum, given the fact that scheduling for regular games is always pretty difficult for me.
This is something that I will likely be putting together anyways just for the heck of it. I am making this thread mostly just to find out how ambitious I should be about it. I expect to have most of the work done by Mid-June, though early test runs earlier on would be great, too.
