A tiny shiver quakes through your tired body as you huddle around the fire. Its gentle, amber glow bathes you in a meager warmth, casting dancing shadows across your moonlit campsite and illuminating your tired features. Your eyes relax as you lazily stare down into the dying flames. It’s almost hypnotic...
*sssssssssssss*
Your expression is vacant. Distant. The look of a pony who’s seen things they can’t possibly hope to explain. Dozens of unanswerable questions sing out their nagging, dissonant notes inside your weary mind. And amid that chaotic symphony, you lose yourself, pondering in silence for who knows how long. It's not until you hear a sudden *pop!* from the campfire that you're torn from your reverie. No doubt your heat source is hungry and demanding more wood. After all, it’s little more than a glowing pile of embers now. Poor thing.
*sssssssssssss*
You shudder as the playful licking of the flames finally dies out, giving way to the biting cold. Wordlessly, you turn your attention to your companions. In the low light, you can barely make out their faces. Three of them. The only three ponies you can truly count on anymore. At least...until this is all fixed.
*sssssssssssss*
They look tired, that much you can see. The three of them return your silent, half lidded stare, dark bags hanging under their eyes.
You know exactly how they feel.
*sssssssssssss*
A defeated sigh escapes your muzzle, your discomfort quite literally visible as it takes the form of your frosty breath that quickly dissolves into the night. You briefly consider a quick sojourn to find some more food for your fire, but quickly shove the thought from your mind. It was almost time - or so you thought, at least - and there was a chance you would miss it while you were out.
And you never miss it. Bad things happen if you miss it.
Your companions begin to shift anxiously, their equine bodies shivering as they lay gathered around the pathetically dim fire pit. You have no doubt they had briefly entertained the very same idea, only to come to the same conclusion. Oh well, there would be time to find comfort and warmth later. Afterwards.
*sssssss-...*
Your ear twitches. The pony next to you gasps, and the four of you jolt to attention. Slowly, you look toward the small, portable radio laying next to one of the tents. It’s gone eerily silent, the hissing white noise having been snuffed out suddenly.
“D-did...did the batteries go out?...”
“No, you dingus, the light’s still on! Besides, we just replaced them yesterday, remem-”
"SHUSH!"
The frigid air goes silent, and the four of you hold your breath.
Suddenly, from the quiet depths of the radio's speaker, you hear it. As jarring as it was the day it revealed itself to you, carried along its elusive airwaves from an unknowable source. That voice. That stilted, genderless voice. That strange voice you can only hope will lead you to an answer someday.
Rasping out in its familiar, yet alien tones, it begins:
“GOoD evenINg...
...hERe is tHis WeeK’s NEwS.”
Hello and welcome to the recruitment thread for Please Take Care, my very first SW:MLP campaign! WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?:Please Take Care is a surreal adventure/horror/mystery campaign that will follow a group of unwitting ponies as they are forced to investigate the source of a strange radio broadcast that seemingly only they can hear. And trust me, things are gonna get friggin' weird along the way. I hope. WHEN'S THIS THING GONNA RUN?:I am currently still working on writing out the campaign’s outline and fleshing everything out at the moment, but I am far enough along at this point to where I can start gauging interest and gathering a group together. My goal is to begin the game at the end of August. As for a day of the week and time to run sessions. My hope is to be able to run on Saturdays, starting around 5-6 PM PST. If that doesn't work, then we can work out a different day that works for all the people involved! Really, my schedule is enormously flexible at this point. WHERE WILL IT TAKE PLACE?:It will take place in IRC, as is pretty much standard at this point. OOC chat in Skype. WHO'S IN IT?:The player list is as follows: Dashie MorningStorm Karnwyn Godna

I might be interested, but I'd need a time scale for this. If Moment of Glory doesn't get cancelled, that'll be Saturdays and my Pathfinder group works on Sundays.

Right, yes, I knew I had forgotten SOMEthing. I currently am busy fridays, sundays and mondays. Saturday is a possibility for running the game, but if that doesn't work for people, I will just run it on a weekday or somethin'! I'll go ahead and edit the OP with that too.

To be entirely honest the friend you mentioned having join Moment of Glory is at present the only reason I have not already canceled Moment of Glory, as all my attempts to drum up new players have failed miserably. If I do indeed end up canceling Moment of Glory I would be interested in joining the campaign.

Alright then, so let's cancel that and jion this instead? I mean, shame to kill off Cumulo, but it's for a good cause I guess. I can always talk to Maso about it later.

Please remember that this game isn't first come first serve, as I said in the OP, and that I do not know who will be getting in yet; I would strongly suggest against making any decisions to cancel any potential games based on the existence of this campaign I'm trying to put together, especially if you are literally one or two players away from being able to run it...

Assuming that Moment of Glory is indeed cancelled, I'm campaign-free at the moment. While I'm not into surreal/horror theme campaign, I will join you guys if there's no else to fill up the final slot.

I was one player away from actually running, it, but it doesn't take an expert to tell that I wasn't going to get that player anytime soon, seeing as I already had the only new board member who seemed likely to join the campaign, even after several different people went around advertising the game and as such the only other option would be to resort to advertising on something like EQD which is not an attractive option. So pretty much the move to cancel it was something I decided on shortly after posting it as it didn't hit the enrollment requirement by the set deadline (which was more than a week of recruiting) On topic, Yeah now I am certainly wanting to take part in this campaign. (Long story short, apparently word has gotten around of me being a terrible GM after the last 2 disasters)

I just get this horrible feeling now that my break will finish before I get any Roleplaying done. Is this like the only active campaign? I would really prefer something sooner than, say, a week's wait and then having a door slammed in my face for being noobalicious.

I would really prefer something sooner than, say, a week's wait and then having a door slammed in my face for being noobalicious. There is always FND, and My Little Tyrant once I work out the logistics, though I guess I would step out of the way to let new players get a spot in this campaign... (My track record as a player isn't great and its been so long since playing in an actual campaign that waiting longer isn't a big deal. to put it in perspective, when I was last actually in a campaign SWMLP 2nd edition was only a month or two old). Edit: actually looking at it I may as well take myself out of the running seeing as there are already at least 4 more deserving candidates wanting in.

Relax Wyvern. Defeatist talk is hardly fitting. Besides you never know what might happen.

I'm interested as well. Though my involvement will depend on what day it will fall on.
