As of now, the first playtest kit is available for Magic. It has a redone spell list, featuring a grand total of 26 cantrips (5 for each School and Magic Trick), 20 Novice Spells, 15 Seasoned Spells, 12 Veteran Spells, 10 Heroic Spells, and 8 Legendary Spells. In addition, it contains new rules for Spell Fatigue. Check it out! I would love to see what people think of it.

I put together a video tutorial a while ago on how to use Regex to do quick and dirty log cleaning. It was for OpenOffice, but should work on Libreoffice as well.

LOL I actually thought about putting up how I clean logs but then I thought, "naaaaaaaah no one's gonna bother with it"

But since Concerned Reader helpfully described the OpenOffice method, I'll explain, via WALLS OF TEXT, how to do it with Microsoft Word. This should be applicable for all Office versions.

1. Get yourself a logging client, buster
   
2. Get yourself Microsoft Word, buster
   

[/a], then refer to Concerned Reader's post here. Whatever works for you; you may need to figure out how your particular program handles wildcard and special character expressions though.[/ul][/li][li]Copy and paste the raw log into MS Word

[/li][li]Get to the Find and Replace function, buster[/li][li]Turn on the Wildcards functionality

[/span]Therefore, in order to remove color codes and/or character names, we input into the Find box:
[li]\<name\> ?##[/li]where the backslashes the MS Word to search for the angle bracket, the question mark is a single wildcard placeholder because I don't know what the heck that tetris-shaped symbol is, and the number being whatever specific color code that character uses.
You will need to learn what color code is associated with which character, for instance dark blue is typically 02. So a character that uses dark blue text would have their posts as "<name> ¬02 my text here"

In Replace, we input whatever your new character tag is (such as removing unnecessary symbols, like "[_xxxBobxxx_]" to just "Bob". and do not include the color code.

For example:
[li]Find: \<PonyNameOfAwesome\>?02[/li][li]Replace: <PonyNameOfUberAwesome>[/li]
Hit Replace All.

If, for some reason, the player inserts color codes elsewhere in their post (such as if they are doing it manually via mirc instead of using mibbit to automatically do it for them), you're kind of up the creek without a paddle because searching for just the color code runs the risk of hitting dicerolls, so you'll have to do it by hand. Hopefully your group is considerate and does not rainbow color their text. >>

Use the same concept for /me irc posts, as follows:

[li]Find: \* PonyNameOfAwesome ?02[/li][li]Replace: * PonyNameOfUberAwesome[/li][/ul][/li][li]Color character text

• Find: <PonyNameOfUberAwesome>*^13
• OR Find: \* PonyNameOfUberAwesome *^13

[/li][li]Remove/Alter OOC text

• Find: \<PonyNameOfUberAwesome\> \(\(*\)\)
• To delete OOC text, Replace With: nothing!111!
• To tab over OOC text, Replace With: ^t<PonyNameOfUberAwesome> ((*))

[/li][/ol]And there you have it. Ta da! walls of text win

Word of warning: that bizarro tetris symbol ¬ from the color code only lasts for the first time MSWord is open. If you save the doc, close it, and reopen it again -- at least in Office 2007 -- that tetris symbol turns into this unholy long-ass hockey stick. So I strongly recommend doing all of the Find and Replacement stuff all in one go and kill that tetris piece with computerized fire before saving and closing the document. If you don't, well, at least it'll be really easy to see the color codes now.
