What is it with Aegis and losing his shield?

What is it with Aegis and losing his shield? Yeah it's becoming a cliche isn't it? We'll have to add it to the list of "Things that have to happen every arc". Well let's hope he doesn't lose it at Farflüng although I don't think he'll be using it (not much use for a shield in courting ceremonies). Which reminds me, when I read the log, Elegance Shieldbearer reminded me of Rarity...was that intentional or am I just imagining things?

Things that have to happen every session, or at least every arc: 1) Mistaken Gender Identity 2) Notice roll 2.b) Notice for food 3) Aegis loses his shield 3.b) Aegis gets turned into a different color

And yet another log pops out of the snow! LIKE DAISIES! half the fun in posting logs is getting to make silly headers and crack summariesSession 36: Love, Duty, and the Viper Pit, Part IIThe party wakes up the next day. Aegis gets a note from the Countess saying there'll be some morning activities in the garden area, and he is of course invited, along with his entourage if they so desire. They don't/aren't (yet), so Aegis is left to whack it out in badminton against Lustre Paladine with Chalice Farflung helping and Starseeker checks in with The Boss, aka the Countess. Aegis and Starseeker reminiscence about Canterlot Kindergarten and the weirdness that is Slow and Bali. Speaking of which, the two charisma-impaired duo track down Mr. Forthcoming, the castle's servant-scheduler-pony-something-idunno. They learn that the castle has no ghosts, or young batponies, unless they were brought in by one of the visitors, and that whoever stuck the Secret Admirer Letter in Bali's room paid one of the servants to do it. I dunno about you Slow, but I totally vote for crashing Aegis' party.

And behold, the pains and awesomeness that are dice rolls. Snake eyes and aces everywhere! Session 37: Love, Duty, and the Viper Pit, part IIISlow and Bali held back to the garden area, where lunch is now being served. Aegis strikes up a nice conversation with Chalice Farflung, but Starseeker has an unsettling one with True Silverheels. Slow and Bali mingle briefly with a few of Montcalme Blackthorn's retainers, and get a little bit of gossip about somepony's caddy flirting with one of Countess Farflung's maids. The party reconvenes briefly before dinner, sharing info – apparently, Aegis is Srs Bsnss on getting hitched. After dinner, the evening's activities is ballroom dancing. Aegis and Chalice begin dancing, as well as Slow and Starseeker, while Bali takes the chance to slip to the sidelines and watch the suitors to learn more about them. Unfortunately Aegis and Slow accidentally crash into each other, causing great chaos and embarrassment. Luckily Aegis is able to smooth things over with his apologies (maybe a bit lumpy). When it is all over, Aegis, Slow, and Starseeker go back to their rooms to nurse their metaphorical wounds, while Bali decides to follow Lustre Paladine. In so doing, she discovers to her complete surprise that it'd been Lustre (playboy stallion extraordinaire) who's been sending her those secret admirer letters: tonight's letter says he wants to meet midnight at the grotto. Bali promptly panics, and runs to Aegis/Slow/Starseeker to get help on what the hay she's going to do in less than an hour… Well you know what they say guys: all is fair in love and war... GUYS WAT R WE GON DO DOES DIS MEAN WAR? We need a plan; gotta get Aegis hitched after all. I vote for Aegis somehow getting to accuse Lustre of Not Nice business, totally putting Lustre out of the running while, I dunno, meeting with Chalice later tonight. This is Saturday night, right? And Countess Farflung's going to make her decision Sunday night (as referenced in session 35)? man it'd be hilarious if the next morning Lustre comes out with a black eye or something

And Countess Farflung's going to make her decision Sunday night (as referenced in session 35)? man it'd be hilarious if the next morning Lustre comes out with a black eye or something I've actually thought about this and played out scenarios in my head. The thing is if Aegis got involved it would end up with it being Aegis' word over Lustre's and I don't think the Countess thinks too terribly high of Aegis at this point. Heck, how desperate would it seem if Aegis just goes to the countess claiming Lustre isn't on the up and up? If I was her I would sooner think that this would be a cheap way of eliminating competition so needless to say we would need evidence. I was personally thinking of a way to prove it was Lustre's hoofwriting and then it would be easy enough to compare. Then we can be all like "TAKE THAT!" Phoenix Write style. I just had another thought too though...what if Aegis was able to bring Chalice along for a nightly stroll and both caught Lustre redhoofed...that would be insane and Chalice's word would carry a lot more weight than Aegis' or Lustre's. However it would also be playing a little too meta...darn it. All analyzing aside though it would be cool to have Aegis be all like, "What do you think you're doing fraternizing with my entourage!?" Then he can be all persuasive while Slow is being all intimidating and of course Bali would be aching to falcon punch the dude. Also I think I'm getting into character a little too much because while I'm excited to see how this all concludes...I'm also very nervous. Here's hoping for an epic ending!

And I had another thought which kinda makes me feel stupid. Starseeker...she apparently has the Countess' trust and is probably the key to the whole thing. At this point I'm just over thinking so perhaps I'll just wait and see what happens.

Hmm... Sounds good. As long we don't get thrown into the dungeon.

Session 4: Aegis Bali Starseeker Slow Purpose me irl Next week will definitely 100% be the thrilling conclusion to this arc: questions will be answered, ponies will be married. Additionally, I would like to formally ask if anyone else besides Toboe would be prepared to run an arc after this one finished (giving you exactly two weeks)? I think it would be good to have at least one opportunity for Bali and Palerider to work together this summer, as you know that my availability as a player will have to end as the semester sets in at school; likely mid-September is when I would have to bow out, and I would be able to resume some time near/after Christmas.

And while we're on the topic of sessions, I have some news...Skystrider wrote me back last night.
Hey Nolan! I am *so* very sorry that I haven't checked in with you guys. I didn't really think about appearing like I was KIA or something. I've wanted to, but life has been incredibly busy ever since I got back from the desert (they already sent me on two trips this summer alone, one of which was a whole month). Please pass my regards on to everyone. At the moment, I'm afraid that I just am not going to have the time to RP like we used to. I do miss you guys, and the game was incredibly fun, but there's just too much going on in both my personal and professional life. While I could probably make a game or two, I couldn't be consistent. Blame sequestration, lol - we're all working a lot harder since that's kicked in. I might be able to gen up a one-shot campaign and be a guest GM if y'all are ever up for it. It would certainly help my writing. That's another thing that has gone by the wayside, lol. Hope all is well! Maybe one of these days I can catch up on all the logs just to see what has happened. Keep in touch, Josh
So...now we know. I can still get in touch with him through my FimFic account as it's the most reliable way to maintain contact with him and him with us. Well, gotta go--mail won't deliver itself.

Oh good, it's great to know Skystrider is doing well. Busy, but well! Whenever he gets a chance free, I say he's totally welcome to jump back in with us, or even GM a one-shot if he feels so adventurous. ;D (Also, guess it's a good thing I have the all the summaries doc for one quick reference.) Speaking of logs... Session 38: Love, Duty, and the Viper Pit, Part IV[/i] ticks Bali off. The midnight rendezvous being a bust, the party heads back to their quarters. The next morning, Aegis has received a letter himself: True Silverheels has dug/fabricated dirt on Aegis during his (mis)adventures in Las Haygas, and demands satisfaction. Aegis chooses Slow as his Second, and the two dueling seconds meet at the courtyard to discuss duel conditions. However, Countess Farflung interrupts before the clash begins. Starseeker puts in a good word in for Aegis, and Countess Farflung – after judging the photographic evidence Silverheels has versus the mission details Aegis presents – says that Silverheels is mistaken. True Silverheels begrudgingly offers apologies, and Aegis accepts, but now who are the favored ponies for Countess Farflung's daughters?[/ul] Next session: THIS CAN ONLY END IN FIRE AMIRITE Also seconding Rodger's shout-out for someone else to GM after Rodger, so Bali and Palerider can get a chance to swap punching techniques before Bali's 2390th attempt to escape Equestria. Otherwise, you guys are gonna get thrown into a dungeon into the place you were banished to.

Also good to hear from Skystrider: his absence is unfortunate but totally understandable! Here's to hoping he'll be able to pop in once and a while. Also seconding Rodger's shout-out for someone else to GM after Rodger, so Bali and Palerider can get a chance to swap punching techniques before Bali's 2390th attempt to escape Equestria. Otherwise, you guys are gonna get thrown into a dungeon into the place you were banished to. To add to that point,
