IN WHICH ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS BEAT UP NPCS AW YEAAAAAH Session 34: What Happens in Haygas...Aka, The Wedding Crashers[/s] taking Great Purpose with him. Aegis breaks the spell holding Oppenhoof dazed, and the party returns to Las Haygas, the mission finally accomplished. Although it looks like this time it doesn't look like all the threads were tied up nicely together, if the newspaper photos Bali shoves in their faces is any indication…[/ul] Also included is A Timeline Of What Actually Happened and an epilogue. Note that the epilogue is actually all OOC character information, although it most definitely is campaign-related... (I might add more to the epilogue later when I'm not entirely brain-dead, but for now it has the important bits)

Despite the initial rumblings I felt that this arc had a very nice coming together and I enjoyed playing it! It was definitely a different tone and feel from the other parts of the game, and I've rather enjoyed the medley of styles and settings that we've had so far. On the heels of the neon-tinged previous adventure I will be GMing the next arc, to be titled "Hotline Equestria" "Love, Honor, and the Viper Pit" and will resolve what was started in "A Corner In Time". The first session will be July 1st, but because I will be out of town and occupied, I will be putting the arc on hold and taking leave of the group on July 8th but returning weekly until the arc is finished on the 15th. In the meanwhile, I believe Hecmanstar has his one-shot ready to run, so then would be an ideal time.

I rather enjoyed a bit of investigation in the Haygas arc.
July 1st GM is Rodger.
July 8th GM is Hecmanstar. Filler arc till the Rodger gets back.
July 15th GM is Rodger and onward till his arc is finished.

I try my best to make each arc different in some way, be it a wildly different locale, rule mechanic, or plot. Since my last arc was heavily combat/dice-roll intensive, I wanted to scale that part way back for the Las Haygas arc. That...sort of worked, I think. I tried. The good thing is that each arc I run I learn more on what works and what doesn't; the bad thing is that I'm always trying to involve something new that most times I've never even tested! (Because, well, it's kind of hard to playtest with imaginary people) Geez, and I thought you guys kept saying Las Haygas was the pits. Now we actually are going into a viper pit. Also, I am going to bet that for this arc, at least once per session, Bali will have a reason to say, "WHY IS IT ALWAYS MAGIC". Will be keeping an internal tally for amusement purposes.

Imagination is fine. Talking to made up people is fine. As long if they don't speak back to you. Your fine.

Ponyception: ponies playing characters playing a character in DnD As mentioned earlier um...somewhere...the next arc by Rodger starting tomorrow will return the party back to Countess Farflüng's castle. This was first introduced in the three-part one-shot "A Corner In Time," and for a refresher the summaries are here: pt1, pt2, pt3. This one-shot was set sometime after the events of United We Stand, Divided We Fall and an undetermined time after the events of Changeling of Heart, and was categorized as a "noodle incident" (an arc not in direct continuity with the In Her Majesty's Service campaign). To tl;dr the tl;dr, in case it turns out to be relevant: - Part 1: (Party: Aegis, Bali, Bubbba, Skystrider, Slow, Sunny): in which the party meets Countess Farflung, whose ancestor is Sees-Through-Stars. The party survives the dinner party and start the seance by reading out of a book, where Things Go Horribly Wrong
as always - Part 2: (Party: Aegis, Bali, Skystrider, (retaconed back in) Sunny): in which the party attempts to get out of the interdimensional wormhole prime manifold whatsit and not get eaten by Things (tindals), and fails utterly, because Aegis Cannot Read A Book
- Part 3: (Party: Aegis, Bali, Skystrider, Sunny): in which the party is sent to yet a interdimensional wormhole whatsit called The Shores Of Infinity, by Sees-Through-Stars, who is now an interdimensional traveler. The party gets back to Equestria by making a deal with the High Priest of Dismater, the Night Mother.

First session down! Hopefully there is enough PG-rated drama for you all to handle I know there are a fair number of characters thrown at you at first, but it will all come together, I assure you.

A deal with night mother? What was the deal?

A deal with night mother? What was the deal? The High Priest wanted to accompany the party on their return, as "There is much that I wish to learn." Except when the party poofed back in Countess Farflung's castle, the High Priest was nowhere in sight. INTRIGUE! And for our entry in a new arc, GMed by none other than our glorious leader, Rodger Marsh! Session 35: Love, Duty, and the Viper Pit, Part II'm looking forward to seeing how all these plotlines link back together! Marriage, batponies, and sekreit admirers? dis gon b gudAlso Aegis totally needs to do the chest poof move sometime. He's the only royal of the bunch, after all!

I agree with Toboe's statement, this is gonna be one interesting arc. I'm looking really forward to next session and the log was actually so interesting that I've read it two times already! I can't wait to see how everything turns out...especially if all goes well and no epic fails happen. There is another reason I'm posting though and unfortunately it's moderately bad news. I've talked to a couple people about this but it's time to make it official. For the time being I have to hang up my GMing hat. Originally I planned on taking a break from GMing for IHMS so I could focus on another campaign with Roger picking up the slack. However because of my recent move and the situation being what it is I have to take a more drastic absence to providing content. Now granted, I don't plan on not GMing permanently and I'll still play shiny prince pony on Mondays but I fear that I won't be able to GM until I'm in a place where I have a lot more computer time. As for how long will I not be GMing? Well it could be as little as a few weeks to several months, I can't be sure. I encourage other people though to step up and try GMing themselves later down the road in light of the current circumstances and also being the fact that it would be only Toboe left to be a consistent GM for IHMS. In any case, I'm hoping this will be a temporary situation.

Hunterwolf:Well, I'll be the first to admit: my Changeling arc was a rather forced and uncomfortable excursion --and an example of being written way too much like a fanfic rather than an open-ended RP setting. I have an idea I've been batting about that I need to put some more parameters to before I would start doing it. Remind me to post the writing--up until Part 2 I had a script. After that I just winged it. And after four sessions GMing my Fallout: Equestria PnP --and managing to not get caught up in any unnecessary combat; that system is really confusing :gah:and needs to be explained a good three or four times before you figure out how to do it as a player much less how it works for a GM, I think I'm slowly learning the fine art of being a facilitator to my players rather than dragging them by their ears! Give me a week or two--I might bounce some ideas off of people without revealing the whole plot which I almost did last time. The GM laughing evilly does not instill any faith in the players that you aren't trying to kill them. Okay, quick notes: - Make the setting interactive with choices
- Don't write a bloody script this time
- Make combat somewhat challenging--not just one combatant (Chrysalis with an ego the size of Jupiter)
And apparently you are only allowed 3 smilies per post...

Just as a reminder, tomorrow July 8th we'll actually be continuing Hecmanstar's arc Tears of the Moon, since Rodger will be busy tomorrow night. The viper pit shenanigans will have to wait for next week, but our continuation with Tears of the Moon has plenty of mischief for us! The summary of the first part is here, but as a tl;dr of a tl;dr: Three words: MORE BAT PONY Sorry to hear that Hunterwolf will have to pause in his GMing for awhile. Especially since this means that you guys are going to deal with my inanities even longer Luckily my next planned arc is fairly modular which means it can be extended without breaking the plot too badly, giving me more time to plan the next one. Then again, your sanity may desire otherwise >> Starseeker, I wouldn't say one should never write a script. A script of what each NPC says, yeah, that'll probably be overkill because 90% of the time the PCs are going to ask something else off-script, but an outline of the plot goes a long way. I pretty much always start with an outline and that's about it. Also, as Rodger mentioned, one combatant can be done; that's what the solo encounter rules in the rulebook are for to make things more challenging. something i've yet to do ooooh shiny

In which the only thing we take is the clearly dangerous one. That sounds about right 8D
